Consultation has concluded

Thankyou for taking part. Phase 1 of the consultation has now closed. Phase 2 of the consultation will commence in January 2022 and will seek to obtain views on a proposed Budget Strategy for 2022/23.
The Council is a large organisation and provides a wide range of services across Rhondda Cynon Taf, for example, collecting residents’ recycling and wheelie bin / black bag waste, street cleansing, Homes for the Elderly, Leisure Centres, Theatres and providing funding for our schools and working in partnership with them to deliver high quality education for children and young people. Its total net revenue budget for 2021/22 is £528M and Welsh Government funds 77% of this (£404M), Council Tax income accounts for 22% (£119M) and the remaining 1% (£5M) is from a specific grant and the use of the Council’s own reserves.
We have not yet received the Welsh Government settlement for next year. As a result Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Budget Consultation for this year will be a phased approach, so that we can ensure residents and stakeholders have as much opportunity as possible to provide views on the budget and to make sure that views are informed by the most up to date and relevant information.
Phase 1
Phase 1 took place between the 26th October and 7th December 2021. We asked for views on levels of Council Tax, the resources allocated to schools, Fees and Charges, spend and service priorities, efficiencies, investment priorities and the Council Tax Reduction Scheme. The results of the consultation are now being considered ahead of a Phase 2 consultation on a Draft Budget Strategy.
