The Local Development Plan 2022 – 2037

Rhondda Cynon Taf is preparing a new version of its Local Development Plan (LDP).

Not everyone is aware of the LDP but it has an impact on many aspects of life in RCT. Its key role is to determine planning applications and is therefore important for everyone in the area.

The LDP designates land for development, including housing, employment, retail and town centres, transportation and highways, minerals (quarries), renewable energy, waste, tourism, leisure, education and wider community and health facilities (amongst others).

It also protects our wonderful natural resources, historical heritage, wildlife habitats, open space and our beautiful landscapes.

These are just some of the questions that the new LDP needs to answer;

  • Where is new housing needed and where should it be, or not be built?
  • Where will the people of RCT be working?
  • How should our Town Centres look in the future?
  • What facilities does RCT need?
  • How best should we protect our unique natural environment?
  • Is there anything the LDP can do to help address climate change?

We now need your help! It’s now time to hear what you think are the issues the LDP needs to help resolve in RCT!

These issues can include anything that you think are important in relation to all the above mentioned areas e.g. new housing, jobs, town centres and also improvements to public transport, more community facilities or thoughts on renewable energy or tourism etc.

If you wish to make a comment, please leave us your ideas for the Revised Local Development Plan in the section below.

If you would like to be kept up to date on the LDP process we can add you to our database please email LDP@rctcbc.gov.uk
