In 2025 RCTCBC launched our new Involvement Strategy. This strategy explains how we intend to work with the people who live and work in Rhondda Cynon Taf to gather thoughts and opinions on the work that the Council is doing. The strategy is in place until 2030 and applies to formal public consultations and general feedback and engagement work across the Council.

The Involvement Strategy is our plan to meet our vision of

A Rhondda Cynon Taf where everyone in the community is able to have their say in the planning and delivery of Council services. Where people know how to have their say and know that their views are considered when decisions are being made.

We have written seven Objectives - these are the goals we are setting to improve our involvement work over the lifetime of the strategy. We have also written three Measures of Success, which are the questions will we ask to check that we are succeeding in improving our involvement work.

It should be noted any consultation or engagement is only one part (albeit an important part) of the decision making process and should be used alongside other data, evidence and knowledge that exists to inform decision(s).

We want everyone in RCT to feel part of the conversation about the decisions made in the Council. But this does not mean that we will always change our minds based on what people tell us - there is a lot of other information that goes into making decisions. We will, however, make sure that Council decision-makers listen to what people are saying and take that into account in their work.

There are lots of ways to get involved!

Offline: Community Events; Neighbourhood Networks; Paper survey; Telephone Calls; Face to face in the community; Forums & Focus Groups. Online: Social Media (Facebook, Instagram); Online Survey; Let's Talk (polls, ideas, surveys); Email & Website; Forums & Focus Groups. Both: Council Committee meetings; Citizen's Panel; Easier to read/ Plain English/Welsh Documents.

If you would like to keep up to date with our work on involvement across RCT please consider joining our Citizens' Panel.

If you'd like to send us your comments and feedback about this Involvement Strategy you can fill in the feedback form below or get in touch through any of the methods listed under "Who's Listening". We would love your thoughts and suggestions on how we can get as good as possible at involving the people of RCT!
